Blanket Certificates of Insurance

  • For ease of paperwork, subcontractors may submit insurance documentation on a blanket basis in order to do work on multiple projects under just one insurance certificate. 

SUBCONTRACTOR PERFORMING WORK ON MULTIPLE PROJECTS IN THE SAME STATE

Each of our projects require a project specific certificate of insurance (COI) for EACH project they work on; however, a lot of our Subcontractors are doing multiple projects in one state which creates an opportunity to reduce paperwork by providing a blanket certificate of insurance.  This will allow subcontractor to work on all projects (non OCIP or CCIP) under one COI.  If providing a blanket certificate, the following guidelines will be in addition:

  1. On the COI, in lieu of stating an individual project name, replace with the following verbiage in the Description of Operations section of cert: "All projects performed for Skanska USA Building Inc "  (Note, this will not apply when Skanska is part of a Joint Venture)
  2. When stating the additional insureds, state the following along with the other required Description of Operations wording: "All insurance (excluding Workers Compensation and Professional Liability) include Owner, Skanska USA Building Inc., Skanska USA, Inc., Indemnified Parties, any other parties as required by Owner Contract and their respective directors, officers, employees, and affiliates as Additional Insureds, and shall be primary and non-contributory to any insurance maintained by Additional Insureds." 
  3. All endorsements and waivers need to be on a blanket basis either per form wording or blanket wording in schedules of such endorsements/waivers in lieu of listing each entity required by contract

At times, depending on scope of work, blanket insurance documentation may need to be revised based on the requirements of the scope of work and/or contract
