User Guide
Welcome to the "How-To" page for the project SharePoint Site. As a "living" document depository, it will evolve to meet the demands of the specific project. If there is a specific task that is not included in this guide, please request that it be added to this site by contacting your local Project Controls or SharePoint Site Admin.
General Site Functions
The site enables easy sharing of pertinent project documents while safeguarding third party access to proprietary information. Furthermore, it acts as an interactive platform that fosters successful collaboration among all team members.
The following is an example of a project's
site organization matrix which details the interactions between the executive management, design development team, estimators, subcontractors and proposal writers. The following workspaces help facilitate this interaction:
Working on Project Documents
To ensure that multiple people are not working in a document at the same time, we have implemented two measures: management of site permissions and document check-in/check-out feature. Site permissions are managed by site administrator. The check-in/check-out feature requires users to check-out a document before it can be edited. For more information click
How to Use the Check-In & Check-Out.
Tips and Strategies
SharePoint is designed to interface with Microsoft Office programs, Microsoft Outlook in particular. Please use the following procedures to ensure that you are up to date on the project contacts, announcements and calendar activities.
